Glen Powell has a fresh take.
After the Hit Man star went viral for detailing a story of date he heard went really wrong, he admitted that it was simply gossip.
"Props to my little sister's friend who told her this dating story," Glen wrote in a June 10 X (formerly known as Twitter) post. "I've been telling this for years. I'm questioning my whole life now. False alarm. Back rubs are back."
Of course, Glen's story, which he originally detailed on Jake Shane's Therapuss podcast, had always been a figment of hearsay from his sister Leslie Powell's college days.
"Want to hear a crazy story?" Glen began on the May 22 episode of the show. "I've got to get all my facts for this story, I'm gonna tell you this story and then I'm gonna let my sister fact check. I hope I'm telling it correctly."
And then the Top Gun star detailed the jaw-dropping date that had the internet in a frenzy.
"My little sister was friends with a girl who went on a date with a guy," he continued. "The guy is super charming and they have a great night. She goes back to his apartment that night and he's like, ‘Hey can I give you a massage?' And as she got back to his apartment, she just started getting weird vibes. She was like, ‘Something feels off.' So she's like, ‘Sure' and he starts massaging her shoulders. Everything is feeling odd. She leaves."
But the nightmare of the alleged story was only just beginning.
"Her skin starts itching like crazy the next day," he added. "She goes to the doctor and he does a test on her skin, and it turns out that it's a black market lotion that breaks down skin for human consumption. This man was rubbing lotion on her body to eat her. So the doctor was like, ‘You've got to give me this person's address and you should call the police.'"
Of course, Glen was only detailing the horrific story as a cautionary tale to a listener who was considering going away for the weekend with a guy they had just met online.
"So before this woman goes on a date with a guy on Bumble just for the weekend and the whole thing," Glen explained. "Check your cannibal instincts, you know what I mean?"
